Federal Laboratory Consortium Enters into Partnership With The Puerto Rico Science, Technology & Research Trust

Released: June 3, 2024

(Washington, D.C. June 3, 2024), The Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer (FLC) has entered a strategic partnership with the Puerto Rico Science, Technology & Research Trust, known as the Trust. This partnership supports the FLC’s ongoing campaign to facilitate the transfer of federal lab research through collaboration with local businesses to develop technologies that benefit the public and economy.

The Trust is a private nonprofit organization established in 2004 to promote technology innovation and commercialization, with a mission to create jobs to advance the Puerto Rican economy and its citizens’ well-being.

The Trust signed a memorandum of understanding with the FLC on April 19, 2024. Under the agreement, the FLC and the Trust will work together to promote and participate in mutually beneficial activities such as joint meetings, sponsorships, and special events to connect federal labs with Puerto Rican entrepreneurs and small businesses to boost partnerships leading to new businesses that benefit the regional economy.

“Partnering with the Federal Labs Consortium marks a significant milestone for the Puerto Rico Science, Technology & Research Trust. Through this collaboration, the Trust will connect local researchers, innovation driven entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship support organizations to the research, knowledge and technology across federal laboratories in order to drive scientific advancements and economic growth, solidifying Puerto Rico’s position as a hub for cutting-edge research and technological development that improves the lives of its citizens,” said Eng. Luz A. Crespo Valentin, CEO The Trust.

“Our recent event introducing available technology and facilities as key resources for small businesses in Puerto Rico was such a success, that it has led to this partnership where the FLC and its member labs will work more closely with the Trust to share promotional activities that will benefit the Puerto Rican entrepreneurship ecosystem,” said Paul Zielinski, executive director of the FLC. “We’re excited to work together to build stronger relationships leading to more successful technology transfer activities that will benefit society.”
