(WASHINGTON, DC) The Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC) has announced the winners of its 2022 National Awards, which recognize government innovations across a range of technology sectors—from airport security screening to electric car batteries—and the partnerships that help make them part of our everyday lives.
The FLC and its members work to bring new technologies out of government labs and into the marketplace, where they can help improve the economy, society, and national security. The FLC’s annual National Awards recognize government laboratories and individuals who have achieved these goals by partnering with universities, businesses, or state and local governments—a collaborative process called technology transfer (T2).
“These awards demonstrate that federally funded innovation is thriving despite the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Paul Zielinski, Executive Director of the FLC. “The partnerships that bring those technologies to the public, where they can have a life-changing impact, will play a key role in the pandemic recovery process.”
The winners, selected from 64 submissions, represent eight federal agencies. Most of the awards went to teams of people, while five awards recognized noteworthy technology transfer achievements by individuals. See the full list of winners below.
The winners and their research will be recognized at the 2022 FLC National Meeting, which will be held in Cleveland from April 5 to 7, 2022.
